Competitive Ruling: MAMMOTH ESPORTS CLUB

Published on Jan 12, 2024

TL;DR:

Mammoth Esports Club (MEC) did not submit the minimum roster required in time for the Week 1 roster lock. As a result, Mammoth Esports Club will forfeit their Week 1 match against Antic Esports.

Mammoth Esports Club will also incur a penalty for all upcoming games, resulting in the loss of the first ban during the initial ban phase in all subsequent LCO matches throughout Split 1 of 2024.

Timeline

Mammoth Esports Club were made aware of the roster lock deadline in advance and received multiple reminders in the lead up to the Week 1 roster lock for Split 1 of 2024.

Steps were taken by the LCO to assist Mammoth Esports Club in assembling their active roster by the dedicated roster deadline period for Week 1. Despite League officials regularly communicating with Mammoth Esports Club management, they did not submit the minimum number of players required to form a roster.

Once the deadline had passed, Mammoth Esports Club were granted a 24 hour extension, however, they were still unable to meet the minimum roster requirements. Mammoth Esports Club will have the opportunity to play from Week 2 onwards provided they submit a roster that aligns with the minimum team roster size limits.

Relevant Rules

3.4. Maximum and Minimum Team Roster Size

Each Team is required to maintain, at all times during the LCO Competitive Season except during the LCO Split season, a total roster of no less than six (6) Players (“Minimum Roster”), each of whom is eligible to participate in LCO-affiliated Matches (the “Active Roster”), and no more than ten (10) Players (the “Maximum Roster”), which includes the Reserve Roster (Section 3.5).

Ruling

As a result of the above, Mammoth Esports Club will forfeit their first match of Split 1 against Antic Esports.

Additionally, Mammoth Esports Club will incur a penalty for all upcoming games, resulting in the loss of the first ban during the initial ban phase in all subsequent LCO matches throughout the Split. This has been implemented to ensure that the team that received a forfeit win does not gain a significant advantage from the absence of Mammoth Esports Club’s participation, maintaining fairness across the competition.
